From Coach Miller
September is Childhood
Cancer Awareness Month!
LET’S WHIP
CHILDHOOD CANCER!
Childhood Cancer has hit very close to home with our Sonoma family. Last
year we lost one of our very own second graders, Max Marlin to cancer, and
now we have another one of our very own staff member’s son and first
grader, Jaeton Monroe, fighting this horrible disease.
Because childhood cancer is more rare than other cancers there hasn't been
a lot of money allocated towards finding a cure. But we can change that. We
want to challenge Sonoma students to raise $1,000 to go towards
whipping childhood cancer.
On September 2nd-12th, we are going to collect coins from our
Sonoma students to try and reach our $1,000 goal. If
Sonoma reaches the goal, then our students will get to throw
a pie into our principals’ faces!
Bring in your coins and let’s help whip childhood cancer! The money raised will
go to the UNM Cancer Center Pediatric unit.
We also challenge you to join the whip cancer project where you fill a pie pan
up with whip cream and smash it into your face all in the name of whipping
childhood cancer. Then, call out your friends to do the same and post
somewhere for others to see. Go to the link on Facebook called “Whipping
Childhood Cancer”.
