This weekend is our state battle in Santa Fe, NM I am so excited for our kids to get to experience the state battle! I can't wait to get up there!!! Good Luck to all!!!!

This Thursday, March 19th we will be celebrating our year with an Ice Cream Social!!! For students that did not make the district or state team this will be their last meeting.

A few updates for Battle of the Books! We will be having a scrimmage on Saturday, February 21st at Mesilla Park.  Registration will begin at 8am with the scrimmage starting at 9am. Please be there no later than 8:45, as teams need to be arranged/rearranged for no shows.   I encourage all students who have never participated in Battle of the Books to attend the scrimmage so they can familiarize themselves with the competition format.  Please let me know, by returning the bottom portion of this paper, if your child will be participating in the scrimmage.
The district battle will be held at Hillrise Elementary on April 11th starting at 8am.   Each participant has to have read at least 10 books from the book list, with questions turned in, by this date.  Please wear your battle t-shirts for the district battle.
This year the state Battle of the Books is going to be held in Santa Fe on April 18th.  We are slowly getting updates and information about the state battle and I will disseminate information as I get it.  This battle is only for the first 7 students to finish at least 10 books. If you have read 10 books PLEASE don’t stop reading the more you read the more questions you will be able to help your team with!
Students who have met the goal so far

Meetings are going Great! We are meeting the first and third Thursday of each month
 12/4, 12/18, 1/22, 2/5, 2/19

Students are turning in questions and we are holding practice battles at our meetings. Also T-shirts are in and I will hand them out before our next meeting so that battlers can wear them to the next meeting. I do not have the District and State Battle information just yet but I will pass the info along as soon as I have it.  Remember I can only take the Top 7 Battlers to State, everyone competes at District.
