Reading - Students should be reading at least 20 minutes each night and completing one question/task in their reading log. Please take the time not only to sign the log but discuss with your child what they are reading and writing about each evening. I check these daily and award participation points and warm fuzzies at the end of the week for a completed log.
It is also important for your child to practice reading out loud (for fluency) to someone, even their stuffed animals or smaller siblings.
Students may also use Raz Kids online for their reading or additional practice. Our teacher code is ssatterfield1
Math - A few times a week there will be short worksheet coming home for review. The page will be from our current lesson and should be for review only. If your child is struggling with the concept(s) Please use the Re-teach side for additional instruction and examples. Students must complete and return the "practice" side of the worksheet for participation points the following day.
Reading Street Packets - Literacy Packets are sent home on Mondays and due the following Monday. Although these packets are not turned in for a grade, I do give participation points and students earn 5 warm fuzzies to spend in the class shop. The packets are aligned with the strategies and skills we are are currently working on in class each week. They also include the current vocabulary and spelling words. They are great for review and/or additional practice.
