Fiction Book Report Project

This book project will combine all of the skills we have learned in reading, writing, and presenting. You will think and read critically and create something to show what you have learned.

Task One: (Book Proposal) COMPLETED

• Choose a book that you have never read! It must be age-appropriate and something that will challenge you a little. It must be fiction. (We will have a non-fiction book report later in the year).
• Fill out the Book Proposal Sheet to tell me which book you chose, why you chose it, and how it will challenge you. Due Wednesday January 14^th

Task Two: (Weekly Book Logs) COMPLETED

• Keep a weekly Book Log. (Will be passed out on Monday) Each week you need to have a short summary, two observations about a character, two questions or thoughts, and one prediction with support.
• You will turn these in on Tuesday, January 20^th  and Tuesday, January 27^th . The book can be used for your nightly reading also.

Task Three: (Written Report) – 

Rough Drafts Due February 2nd and we will edit in class and put them all together in a flip book

• Page 1: A summary of the plot. (Setting, Characters, Problem, Solution, Conclusion)
• Page 2: Choose a character and write a Character Analysis. Choose two character traits to describe your character and prove each one using at least 2 supporting details from the story.
• Page 3: Write a Theme Analysis. Explain the theme with support and examples from the text.

*** Each page does not have to be a full page, a well-written paragraph is fine for each section.

Task Four: (Creative Response) Due Feb 13th Must be completed at home

If you need supplies please let me know

• Choose a creative way to respond to your book. It should illustrate the theme, the events, the main idea, or the character (s) in some way.

***These are all things that we have practiced in class, and you may turn in rough drafts early to have me check it! I want you to be successful.

STEM Challenge
Today we spent the afternoon completing a STEM Challenge, The Card Tower. Each Team was provided 100 index cards and 12 inches of scotch tape. The results were mixed, we had 4 successful teams and 4 teams that were not no successful

but they never gave up!
